Housekeepings

 i.
The countertop waits for what
Would be cooked on it
as it always did
a humble dish.
The same shapes cut away from tomatoes
the hunger soon forgets about gourmet
And who you wish to eat it with.

Soon the beaches remained words
on the airline site
and the radio stops playing
movies in the head
and sometimes it’s boring
and sad. But soon you care for nothing
but cleaning the room.

 ii.
Folding, tucking, putting things away,
when you are finished.
there's the question
of empty spaces to inhabit.
So clean,
so proper.
So right. So meaningless.
Calling on you
asking what are you
going to do

There’s no rule saying  it must be smooth
It must be right.
No one is watching. Trust.
invite the right strangers
and wrong friends inside!
the vase is set for a smash.
Make sure to serve with your best china
And leave pillows tackling
at the wrong corner of the bed!
Let the bodies soil
those hooked clothes with lust.
While
the pretty journals open
to teenage colored pens
defaced with scribbles not saying, “be like this. Be good”
No.

  iii.
Just know for today,
That no matter
And even when we’ve forgotten how
Everything will be back
at our fingers’ ends
the knots of failings when judgment leaves,
to be trimmed, repaired or scrubbed clean.
back to its place,

Or even better.
